How to stop mindless eating.

We can set ourselves up for success with a change to the way we store our food!

By removing snacks and highly palatable foods from our eye sight and heavily trafficked areas, we eliminate temptation and grabbing a quick snack multiple times throughout the day even though you aren't hungry.

We are stimulated by sight. Seriously. Put an apple and a cookie together. Which one gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling just by looking at it? It isn't the apple, I'm guessing.

This applies to your refrigerator as well. Move your nutritious foods such as fruits, veggiea, and lean proteins at the front of the fridge right in your eye sight. But the snacks in the back or in a drawer.

Can you eat nothing but twinkies and cookies and lose weight?

Yup.

Before you get upset... Let me explain.

Someone just asked me:

"Does it REALLY just come down to calories in calories out for weight loss? Could I eat nothing but cookies and lose weight as long as I'm in a calorie deficit?"

Here's what I said to her..

YES!

You can eat nothing but twinkies and still lose weight (it's been done!).

It doesn't matter what you eat, if you consume fewer calories than you burn, you WILL lose weight.

I then told her:

In theory we will lose weight with that scenario, but it isn't a great idea for long term health & wellness.

But what this DOES mean is that we can still enjoy our favorite foods from time to time and still make progress.

More importantly, you can still be perfectly healthy by eating things like twinkies and pizza on occasion.

This blew her mind.

And it made so much sense to her, because she lost 3 lbs the day after eating McDonalds..because she was in a calorie deficit.

The lightbulb went off. She has discovered the secret to long term sustainable weight loss.

The secret isn't restriction

The secret was right in front of her..literally.

A calorie deficit that isn't restrictive.

A calorie deficit that has you eating more calories..not less (she's eating 1900 and losing weight)

A calorie deficit that includes your favorite foods.

You could have reached your health and fitness goals by now if you had just listened to the guy on the right. He's been saying this stuff for years!

I have hundreds of conversations in my DM's everyday.

Here are 6 solutions to those the barriers keeping you from reaching your goals!

Solution: If everything is a priority, then nothing is a priority! Make your
new healthy habit a priority. Make a list of your priorities and rate them in
order of importance. Try to exercise whenever you can. Take the stairs or get off the bus stop early. Plan one grocery shopping day a week and prepare healthy meals that you can freeze and eat later when you do not have time to cook.

Solution: Who the fuck is? Think about your most important reasons for improving your health and wellness. Why did you start in the first place? For example, would you like to be able to do the things you love without feeling tired or out of breath? Would you like to stop worrying about your health? Think about these things when you feel you want to quit and are lacking motivation.

Solution: Try making your favorite recipes in a healthier way. For example, you can reduce the amount of oil, sugar, and salt you cook with. Add a cup or two of broccoli, carrots, or spinach to your meals. Find sources where you can get inspired with new recipes. My patreon is a great option for this, there are more than 200 healthy recipes to choose from with more added every week.

Solution: You don’t need to spend time in the gym to stay active. You can be active in many ways, including dancing, biking, swimming, walking, gardening, or taking fitness classes. Choose an activity that you enjoy and look forward to. Explore new options of physical activity!

Solution: Find others to be active with you. That will help you stay interested and motivated. Consider doing fun exercise class, like salsa dancing. Get your family or co-workers involved with the healthy eating concept. Plan healthy meals together with your family, or friends.

Solution: Talk to a professional. You do not have to be an expert to change your habits. A few tips and ideas can do wonders. Use the knowledge of experts and let them guide you along the way.
